Today, we finished up "A Sound of Thunder," analyzing the story in the same manner as the quiz tomorrow. We also watched a mini episode of "Phineas and Ferb," labeling Phineas & Ferb's, Perry the Platypus's, or Candace's hero's journeys. You can practice tonight reading any short story, children's book or watching an episode of ANYTHING. Remember, Joseph Campbell's formula fits for many different genres, for many different eras, and for many different heroes. Here's the PowerPoint from this unit to review, also.

On the quiz tomorrow you will cold-read a short story and:

  • identify characters as character archetypes

  • match plot events to steps of the Hero's Journey

  • R-A-C-E an argument for which of the 6 hero types the protagonist of the story embodies
